A genetic test looks to identify genetic variations and/or mutations based on a person’s DNA sample. The results of such tests can be used to provide personal characteristics and genetic predispositions to certain diseases. This can be used proactively in a preventative medical approach before symptoms ever manifest.

To put it simply, a sensitivity is your bodies reaction to food or other substances but does not involve the immune system. An intolerance is your body reacting to food or other substances due to an immune system response. Both can cause unpleasant symptoms, but the underlying causes and coping mechanisms are different.

You should plan to ship your sample back the same day you collect it. Take your completed kit to a local An Post office before end-of-day pickup to have it overnighted to the lab (Monday – Thursday only). empowerDX is not responsible for An Post shipping delays.

The results of this test are permanent. The genetic predisposition shown in your results will highlight your long-term reaction to caffeine.

Your order will be delivered with An Post within 3-5 business days. At home tests are shipped Monday – Friday. Make sure to order in advance to avoid possible shipping delays.

The cost of shipping is included in the price. There's no additional charge for shipping your test to your home or office. Every test kit comes with a prepaid return shipping label that should be used to ship the kit back to our laboratories for analysis and reporting. Regulate gastric secretion: In the stomach, histamine stimulates parietal cells to produce hydrochloric acid and other substances that aid in the digestion of food. Correction of allergic reactions: Histamine is involved in allergic reactions, causing symptoms such as itching, redness, swelling, and a runny nose. Nerve signalling: Histamine acts as a neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, involved in the regulation of various cognitive and behavioural functions. Smooth muscle contractions: Histamine can cause smooth muscles, such as those in the lungs, intestines, and blood vessel walls to contract. It is important to note that histamine performs many beneficial functions in the body, but it can also be associated with adverse symptoms when it is overproduced or when the body cannot break it down properly. Histamine sensitivity is one area where histamine metabolism and processing can be compromised, causing the body to react negatively.
